NLBWA History
The National Latina Business Women Association had its beginnings four years ago in California in response to the tremendous success of the "Emerging Latina Program," a 6-8 week boot camp for women offering education and information in marketing, law, business planning, accounting, etc. This was the inspiration of NLBWA founder, Theresa Ynzunza, Public & Government Relations-Public & Government Relations Consultant and advisor to EP Development Corporation and inspired social architect.
Once a chapter establishes the "Emerging Latina Program," they can design their 2-hour sessions depending on the needs of that chapter and interests of the Board of Directors.
They also decided to partner with a financial corporation to provide a "Latina Financial Program" geared to both the personal and business side of dealing with finances.
There are monthly breakfasts, luncheons or dinners depending on the chapter needs with a guest speaker on a certain topic. But most importantly, they decided that there would be a need to highlight Latina's once a year with a Gala, dinner or an award's night and these have been extremely successful with all the chapters.
The first NLBWA Chapter was formed in Los Angeles and boasted over 120 members within 4 short months! The Sacramento Chapter was formed in August of 2004 and the Orange County chapter in July of 2004. San Diego was launched in December of 2004 and Inland Empire end of 2006. The Atlanta Chapter was started in 2007 and the excitement is building.
We invite you to attend an event and meet our Board Directors and members, become involved, and grow with us!
